Escher is a duo formed by Roberto Laneri and Fabio Sartori.
Roberto Laneri, the composer of most of the music, plays saxophone (sopranino, soprano, alto), bass clarinet and didjeridoo; Fabio Sartori plays piano and hammond organ.
Their music is a journey in the world of sound which brings to mind the impossible geometries of the visionary Dutch artist, where different lines cohalesce into images continuosly changing sign and meaning. It belongs to the territory of jazz, with echoes of “different” musics. The pieces are often inspired by existing places which concur to the creation of imaginary soundscapes.
